After the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has given a statement about the fact that the so-called Syrian opposition groups are violating the ceasefire in Syria, also the Spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Alexander Lukashevich, has made a statement about Syria and the weapons smuggling on Thursday.

Alexander Lukashevich, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, has said on Thursday in a press conference, that Moscow doesn`t make early conclusions, but that the reports about the weapons smuggling have to be investigated and that the UN Security Council (UNSC) has to care about the fact checking of these reports. Lukashevich has also mentioned in this press conference that there are already talks of huge violations of the UN Resolution No. 1701.

The Spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry said further, that there have also been talks about attempts by certain powers to damage the implementation of the six-point plan of the UN-Arab League envoy Kofi Annan.

Some sides seem to aim the failure of the implementation of a peaceful settlement in Syria. Thus, they attempt to violate the ceasefire in Syria and also do not care about the Resolution No. 1701, which means that they support or boost the weapons smuggling to Lebanon so that they finally arrive in Syria.

The spokesman has also said that Moscow sees progress in the implementation of the six-point plan by Kofi Annan of the Syrian government in the capital Damascus. Alexander Lukashevich added that this not only covers the terms of military operations within Syria by the Syrian army, but also the humanitarian situation in Syria.

Of course, the Spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry Lukashevich has also stated while this press conference, that he hopes that all this would help to increase the stability in Syria and that it helps that the economic situation will also improve.

Not to mention that Moscow is also concerned about the humanitarian situation in Syria and hopes that the humanitarian situation in this country of the Middle East will also get better soon again. The implementation of the six-point plan by UN-Arab League envoy Kofi Annan is important for this, thus any violations and any smuggling of arms to Syria is to condemn and have to stop. He added in the press conference that all official sides in the West have admitted that the level of violence has decreased in Syria after the UN observers were deployed to this country.

Lukashevich also said that the situation in Syria remains highly tense, despite the progress which can be seen. The situation within Syria, so Lukashevich, is generally fragile due to the attempts of some powers and countries to damage the peaceful settlement of this crisis in Syria.

While this press conference, the Spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry has also mentioned that a series of terrorist acts in Syria indicates the participation of al-Qaeda in Syria to fight against the Syrian government in Damascus. He added further, that al-Qaeda (al-Qaida) positions have been bolstered within Syria.

A very important statement was the sentence of Lukashevich, that “outside players, who proclaim backing to Annan’s plan but do their best to thwart it on the ground and pushing the country towards a civil war, are (also) behind the terrorist activity in Syria”.

The Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson mentioned in the end of his statements at this press conference yesterday, that about two thirds of the amount of UN observers has now already arrived in Syria. Alexander Lukashevich finally stressed that Moscow will not participate in the next “Friends of Syria” meeting in Abu Dhabi due to the non-participation of the Syrian government. For Moscow, no political discussion can take place without the involvement of the official leadership of the sovereign and secular country, Syria.

The so-called group “Friends of Syria” will meet in Abu Dhabi to discuss the economic development of Syria, although nobody should believe that this group has only the benefits of the Syrian people in mind. When one has such “friends”, he really does not need any enemy.

Lukashevich finally said that Moscow has received an invitation, as usually, to this meeting of the “Friends of Syria” group, but that Russia does prefer to not take part in this meeting in Abu Dhabi. As the Spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry has explained, it is not possible to discuss economic development issues of a sovereign country without the participation of representatives of the government of this sovereign country.

This means, that any discussions of economic development issues of Syria without the participation of the Syrian government are worthless for Russia and are further not supported by Moscow. Indeed a logical decision.
